After hearing people talk about this book for two months, I finally received my copy of The Hood Health Handbook: Volume One in the mail, thanks to the good people at Amazon. Com and whoever else they work with. The book has a great Foreword by Dick Gregory, and discuss one of the top issues going on in the ghetto today, and that would be the issue concerning low quality food and drug consumption, as well as poor diets and lack of exercise.
I remember spending one of my last days in Washington, DC on the bus, headed home one evening, when it finally donned on me that we (people living in the hood) eat, smoke and drink some of the most disgusting products that could ever be sold on a store shelf. I’m one of those guilty people, along with a few other close and former friends who i would often visit in the hospital. All under the age of thirty and suffering from bowel dysfunctions, kidney failure and what have you. If they knew that i was talking about them like this, they would probably ask “What else is there to eat that is affordable in the hood?” This book discusses that.
I don’t want to spoil anything or copy any of the content online, because i do believe that this is a quality book that is worth every penny of your hard earned money. Real talk, go out to your book store, hit up Amazon or talk to someone that owns a copy, but you have to give this book a read. It will make you look at your liquor stores and dollar supermarkets differently. Go cop.
