If you could escape it all, where would you go?
The sun never shined as bright as it did that day, making the sea water look so beautiful as the children ran around the shore in laughter. Theresa watched as the children began to step foot into the water, splashing each other as the seagulls hovered in circles over them. As she continued to watch, she could hear a lovely melody coming from a far. The voice was so innocent and comely, reminding her of how she used to sing as a child, reminiscing on the times when all she wanted to do was sing in front of a large crowd. It was one of her many dreams that never came true.
The soft singing put her in a relaxed state as she stepped barefoot throughout the sand, walking in the direction of a beach chair nearby. As she sat and closed her eyes, allowing the singing to put her at ease, she was approached by one of the beach children, A brown haired boy with green eyes, similar to hers. Sh sat up in the chair and smiled at his presence. The young boy smiled back.
“Are you here to play with us?” he asked as the others continued their water splashing far behind him. The sun shined onto the boy, creating a yellow aura around his body.
“I umm…” she stopped to think, “I actually don’t know why I’m here, or how I got here for that matter.”
The boy grabbed her right hand and tried pulling her from out of the beach chair. “Come play with us, please?” he asked so politely. She rose from the chair, walked throughout the sand and began to play with the other children, enjoying the moment without a care in the world. It was the only time she really enjoyed herself, and felt absolutely at peace. Nothing worried her at that point, until the singing stopped and was replaced with chatter between two men, one of who’s voice sounded familiar. Continue Reading
